PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of curl without the possibility of spot irregularities, a waving phenomenon, a reduction of whiteness on the surface of a recording layer by a method wherein during or after the contact of a cooling roll with the surface of the thermal recording layer, a curl is corrected by moistening the rear surface of a sheet with a mixed gas of air and steam. CONSTITUTION:A cooling roll 2 is provided for cooling the surface of a thermal recording layer after the thermal recording layer containing a basic dye and a color developer is formed on the surface of a running sheet 1. A spray nozzle part 3 provided on the top end of a mixed-gas spray device 4 is disposed opposed to the cooling roll or on the downstream thereof. The surface of the thermal recording layer is cooled to 10-40 deg.C, and a curl is corrected by moistening the rear surface of the sheet with a 0.1-2kg/cm<3> mixed gas 5 made of air and steam. The mixed-gas spray device 4 consists of a pipe for supplying a steam to a mixing part 7 and a pipe for supplying a compressed air heated by an air heater 8. By using a cooling roll cooled to a temperature ranging 20-30 deg.C, the temperature of the recording layer can be adequately lowered. |
