PURPOSE:To efficiently transfer the volatile impurities in a condensate to a steam side in an in-rising-tube type condenser by bringing the downflow condensate film formed on the inside surface of the heat transfer tubes and the steam rising in a conduit tube into air-liquid counter current contact. CONSTITUTION:A decarbonating/deaerating device 2 and/or a reverse osmosis membrane device 4 is disposed in the front flow of a multiple effect distiller I. Further, the in-rising-tube type condenser for a post treatment is disposed in the wake of the multiple effect distiller I and the steam conduit tube 20 to introduce the steam generated in the final n th effect plate to the bottom end of the heat transfer tubes 18 of the condenser 1 is provided. The condensate conduit tube 21 for introducing the condensate up to the (n-1)th effect plate to the top end of the heat transfer tubes 18 of the condenser 1 is disposed. The downflow liquid film formed on the inside surfaces of the heat transfer tubes 18 and the steam rising in the conduit 20 are brought into air-liquid counter current contact. Consequently, the volatile impurities in the condensate are efficiently transferred to the steam and the ultra-pure water having high quality is obtd.
