发明名称 LIQUID CRYSTAL ORIENTING FILM
摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain stable memory performance simultaneously with the orientation of a ferroelectric liquid crystal without a rubber process by constituting the orienting film with a high molecular Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) film and the thin film of a conductive polymer laminated on the LB film. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal orienting film 3 is formed as a function- separated composite structure. Namely, the liquid crystal orienting film 3 accumulates the thin film 5 of the conductive polymer on the high polymer LB film 4 with anisotropy. Then FLC is oriented without rubbing by using the high molecular LB film 4. The LB film is an extremely thin film and when high molecules are used as film molecules, a monomolecular film is extended at the time of the accumulation, so that the LB film 4 has anisotropy depending upon the dipping direction of a substrate. This anisotropy provides the same effect with the rubbing of a high molecular film formed by a rotary coating method and can orient the FLC. In addition, as for the memory performance a conductive polymers are laminated to the thickness small enough not to cancel the anisotropy of the LB film 4 as a base, thereby making the LB film 4 conductive and preventing the charges from accumulation.
