PURPOSE:To facilitate the work of inserting a substrate into a plug connector by providing a means capable of detachably installing between lines of contacts a spacer which enlarges and holds the interval between the lines of contacts when installed so that the substrate can be easily inserted between the lines of contacts and which can be removed when pressed by the substrate inserted between the lines of contacts. CONSTITUTION:A spacer 14 whose flange 14a is up is inserted into a rectangular hole 12a from its end from the recessed portion 12c of an insulator 12 while the end portion of the spacer 14 pushes the inner face of each contact 13b open. In this case, the space C' between the respective end portions of each contact 1b is large enough as against the thickness t of a substrate 4 because the thickness W of the spacer 14 is greater than the thickness t of the substrate 4. Next, the substrate 4 is inserted between two lines of contacts 13b and then the end of the substrate 4 presses the bottom side of the spacer 14 and pushes up the spacer 14 and the contacts 13b each pressing the side face of the spacer 14 are directly shifted onto the face of the substrate 4 to press the face of the substrate 4. The force needed for inserting the substrate can thus be reduced and the work of installing the substrate is facilitated. |
