The invention relates to a cleaning device (14) designed to be used between the inlet pipes (11) and outlet pipes (12) serving the appliance to be cleaned (10) and employing a charge of cleaning bodies, to cause to be circulated through the appliance to be cleaned (10), with filtration means (16) on the inlet pipe (11) and separation means (14) for collecting the cleaning bodies in the outlet pipe (12) and reinjecting them into the inlet pipe (11). According to the invention, these filtration means (16) and separation means (17) employ separate filter apparatuses (19, 29, 30), and connected to the filter apparatuses (29, 30) of the separation means (14) is a set of valves (V1, V2, V3, V4) designed to enable at least one of them to be connected up alternately in parallel or in series to the inlet pipe (11) and to the outlet pipe (12) such that the corresponding filter wall (46) is traversed in the one case and not traversed in the other.
