The invention relates to a developing apparatus using a pigment-powder developing agent. It includes a sleeve (10) inside which is fixedly arranged a magnet (11) whose two poles (N, S) are diametrically opposite one another. One of these poles forms a magnetic field in a developing area (7) lying between the sleeve (10) and a photosensitive drum (1), whilst the other magnetic pole forms a magnetic field in an area delimited by an element (12) for regulating the thickness of the layer of developing agent.
