FORSTERITE SINGLE CRYSTAL AND ITS PRODUCTION

摘要

PURPOSE:To enable the production of a forsterite single crystal capable of efficiently radiating laser beam in high productivity by using CrO2 or CrO3 and/or Cr2O3 as a Cr raw material and baking the material in a prescribed atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A single crystal of a forsterite containing Cr[IV] as light- emission ion is grown by using CrO2, CrO3 or a mixture of >=30wt.% of CrO3 and <=70wt.% of Cr2O3 as a Cr source, mixing the source with MgO and SiO2 used as the other oxide raw materials, pressing the mixture with a hydraulic press to form a green compact and pulling up a crystal in non-reducing atmosphere.
