PURPOSE:To provide a roll coolant controller which is possible to restrict the loss of pumping power to the minimum, by constituting the controller so as to control the flow rate of the coolant supplied to rolling rolls correspondingly to the rolling load, that is the heat generation. CONSTITUTION:The coolant 3 is supplied to nozzles 5 through a pressure control valve 8 and a flow meter 10 and is ejected against a rolling mill 2. A motor 1 driving the rolling mill 2 detects a rolling power almost proportional to the heat generation due to the integrated rolling load, and inputs it as a rolling power signal to a digital blender 11. On the other hand, a flow meter 10 detects at this point of time the flow rate of the coolant being supplied to the nozzles 5, and inputs it as a flow rate signal to the blender 11. The blender 11 compares these two input signals; if the ratio of two signals deviates from a preset value, the blender 11 sends out a corresponding command signal to the valve 8 which is thereby actuated so as to adjust its opening in order to obtain the said preset value. Accordingly, the flow rate of the coolant supplied to the rolling mill is controlled always to a required value exactly corresponding to the heat generation, so that the power for supplying the coolant is reduced. |
