PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of a short circuit when a secondary battery is wound to be cylindrical, and achieve a high energy density and reversibility by covering the circumference of a positive electrode and a negative electrode in the form of a belt with ethylene--propylene copolymeric rubber. CONSTITUTION:Ethylene-prolylene copolymeric rubber EPDM is dissolved in xylene, and obtained high-viscous solution is applied to the whole circumference of both the surface and the underside surface, of a positive electrode 6 and a negative electrode 2 in a predetermined width using a spatula. The circumference of both poles is then coated, and a vacuum drying is applied at 130 deg.C for about 5 hours, for example, and xylene is eliminated, so a positive pole 5 and a negative pole 1 for a secondary battery are obtained. The resistance of this coating is measured by an electrometer to check if a complete insulation is achieved. The secondary battery can thus be obtained having a high energy and a good cyclic performance. |
