Connector for telecommunication and transmission systems - incorporates expandable number of contacts contained in single housing

The connector has leads directly connected to pins arranged in a grid pattern, used in telecommunication and transmission systems. The individual contacts are located in a connector body enclosed in a housing consisting of two shells that interlock when pushed together. The body (1) in its basic form has locating recesses to accept at least one expansion strip fitted with hooks (4) to increase the number of contacts of the connector by one row. To accommodate the selected combination of connector bodies (1 or 1 and 3), one cover (5) has a fixed height of one height unit (H5) and the other cover (6) is available in different heights (H6). USE/ADVANTAGE - Different numbers of leads can be contained in one electrical connector for telecommunication purposes.
