Trash and other waste which is removed by cleaning machinery or cards is conveyed pneumatically (22) to a separating surface (24). The conveying air (B) goes through perforations (24a) and the waste (C) collects in a chamber (25) and is weighed on scales (26). The scales (26) can be connected to a computer to control the time cycle of the weighing operation and provide signals for controlling the setting and working rates of the cleaning machinery and cards.
