Supply of air to fluidised bed - by using grid formed of pipes with nozzle openings in pipes

A fluidised bed combustion system, for a steam boiler or similar installation, is supplied with air through a system of horizontal pipes (1, 2) which are welded to each other to form a grid. The air flows out of the supply system through nozzle openings (3) in the underside of the branch tubes (2). The nozzle openings (3) are inclined at an angle of between 15 and 90 deg. to the horizontal in the downward direction. The preferred angle of inclination to the horizontal lies between 60 and 75 deg. in the downward direction. USE/ADVANTAGE - Air supply to a fluidised bed by an easily constructed pipework system.
