The suspension unit for steered vehicle wheels consists of a wheel carrier (10) held on two upper and two lower linkarms (12,14,16,18). They are connected on flexible bearings (M,N,V,W) on the wheel carrier and on points (G,H,K,L) on the vehicle body. A suspension leg (20) with a shock absorber is mounted on the forward lower linkarm. The cutting point (P) of the centre lines of the lower arms (16,18) cuts the wheel centre line (34) while that of the upper arm (12,14) meet at a point (O) on the wheel carrier to define the ideal pivot points (O,P) of the wheel, leaving a force lever arm (a) between the wheel centre line and the steering arms (32) at the wheel rotation axis (36). |
