The tractor unit (10) tows the extensible screed unit (11) by means of two arms (16). It carries at its front end a hopper (13) which receives the material mixt. from rear-dumping trucks, with control improved by two central conveyors and two rearward lower augers (15). The tractor unit travels on a pair of crawler units (12''') with stretcher wheels (52) and supporting rollers (54) under its rear end, and two dual steering wheels (12'') at either side of its front end. The desired longitudinal and transverse slopes are maintained by hydraulic power under the control of an electronic pendulum and distance sensors.
