PURPOSE:To execute the collection of fault information being free from waste and having reliability by discriminating a fault factor, when a fault is detected, and grasping the fault contents by only an error code, and omitting the collection of fault information to an external storage medium in the case of such a fault which can be released on the spot by an operator. CONSTITUTION:When a fault is generated, its fault is detected by a program which is operated in each function part of a printing controller, a fault factor is discriminated, fault data is set to an error log buffer of each separate factor, and generation of the fault and its factor are informed to a fault processing part 11. The fault processing part 11 reads an error code on the error log buffer, compares successively the error code and data in a fault information unnecessary code table 17, omits an information collection when a coincident code is found out, a preparation part 14 requests to prepare a sense byte and to write its sense byte in a transmitting/receiving buffer 2, and also, requests an error code display part 15 to display the error code. In such a way, fault information can be collected efficiently. |
