Automatic jacquard card cutting - by computer using optical electronic reading of design

An optical device reads the colours and pattern of a design. The signals produced are recorded on magnetic or paper tape and fed to a computer where they are converted to a point paper diagram which is transmitted to a pattern signal register. The capacity of this register is equal to the number of lifting wires of the jacquard mechanism and there are sufficient digits to code the required number of colours. The signal is ultimately transmitted to a card punch producing the jacquard cards automatically.
