ULTRASONIC PROBE FOR PICKING UP THREE-DIMENSIONAL DATA

PURPOSE:To enable the removal of a multiple reflection of an ultrasonic wave by making a curvature ratio in an array direction on an internal bottom surface formed in a body case smaller than the curvature ratio of a tip face of a vibrator unit to arrange an ultrasonic absorption member on a side wall of the body case. CONSTITUTION:In an ultrasonic probe for picking up a three-dimensional data, a curvature ratio along the length of an internal bottom surface 12A is made smaller than that along the length of a tip face 18A of a vibrator unit 18 while an ultrasonic absorption member 44 is arranged on a side surrounding wall of a medium tank 38. Ultrasonic waves radiated from ultrasonic vibration elements 20a of an array vibrator 20 are guided gradually outward repeating reflections because of a difference in the curvature ratio between the tip face 18A of the vibrator unit 18 and that of the internal bottom surface 12A of a body case 10 and finally absorbed by the ultrasonic absorption member 44. As a result, a multiple reflection of the ultrasonic waves can be absorbed between the tip face 18A of the vibrator unit 18 and the internal bottom surface 12A of the body case 10 to remove undesired noises accompanying picking up data effectively while allowing the formation of a clear image.
