PURPOSE:To facilitate the size reduction of a wire electrode feeder by a method wherein an ultrasonic vibrator which creates a mechanical vibration by the application of an AC electric signal is provided and a roller is pressed against the mechanical force outputting parts of the ultrasonic vibrator. CONSTITUTION:Drivers 32 are formed on both the end parts of an ultrasonic vibrator where the maximum amplitude of a vertical vibration appears and a roller 52 is pressed against the drivers 32 by a pressing mechanism. If an AC electric signal is applied to the ultrasonic vibrator 11 to make it vibrate, the ultrasonic vibrator 11 repeats the vibrations of patterns which are shown in figures (a), (b), (c) and (d) to creare a driving force. That is, the phase of the vibration its so adjusted as to make the left side driver 32 pressed against the roller 52 at the time of the expansion of the vertical vibration (a). Then the shape of the vibrator 11 changes as shown in the figures (a) (b) and (c) with a lapse of time. As a result, finally the right side driver 32 is pressed against the roller 52 at the time of the contraction of the vertical vibration. When the driver 32 touches the roller 52, a driving force is created by the friction between the driver 32 and the roller 52 and a thrust to a required direction can be generated. |
