<p>PURPOSE:To convert a MUSE television signal into an EDTV television signal without missing of picture information at the upper and lower part of the screen by providing 1st, 2nd signal conversion means, a video display means and a vertical amplitude control means to the converter. CONSTITUTION:The discrimination processing is implemented by a microcomputer 27 and a discrimination circuit 29. That is, a CPU of the microcomputer 27 gives a control signal to the discrimination circuit 29, which represents that the signal conversion is that for an EDTV signal when a MUSE television signal is converted into the EDTV television signal. Upon the receipt of the control signal, the discrimination circuit 29 discriminates it that the signal conversion is that into the EDTV television signal to decrease a deflection amplitude data stored in a memory of a deflection controller 28. Thus, when the MUSE television signal is converted into the EDTV television signal for the picture reproduction, missing of picture information at the upper and lower part of the screen is prevented.</p> |
