PURPOSE:To improve machinability by adding wollastonite and clay to the main material obtained by mixing a specified amt. of metallugical slag into high-silica zeolite, forming the mixture, drying and then sintering the formed body. CONSTITUTION:The metallurgical slag such as blast-furnace slag contg. at least 80wt.% vitreous phase and having <=0.03-1mm mesh grain diameter is added by 20-50wt.% to high-silica zeolite such as mordenite having 0.25-5mm grain diameter to obtain a main material. Wollastonite having <=0.05-0.5mm mesh grain diameter and clay having <=0.01-1mm mesh grain diameter are added to 50-90wt.% of the main material, and further a specified amt. of water is added. The mixture is then formed by a specified method, the formed body is dried at <=500 deg.C and then sintered at 1050-1250 deg.C to obtain a ceramic sintered body excellent in machinability, dimensional accuracy and strength. |
