NEW MATERIAL:A substance having the following physico-chemical properties. Molecular weight; 575 [electron ionization mass spectrometry(EIMS), m/z 575, M<+>]. Molecular formula; C33H37NO8. Elemental analysis (%); C, 68.53; H, 6.50; N, 2.37. Melting point; 175-178 deg.C. Specific rotatory power: [alpha] =+58.2 deg. (C=0.1, methanol). Solubility; readily soluble in chloroform, acetone, methanol and ethanol, sparingly soluble in ethyl acetate and diethyl ether and insoluble in n-hexane and water. Color reaction; positive to potassium permanganate, 10% sulfuric acid and phosphomolybdic acid reagent and negative to ninhydrin reagent. Appearance; yellow powder, etc. USE:Antitumor agents. PREPARATION:A microorganism [e.g. Actinomyces SF2587 strain (FERM BP-2244)], belonging to the genus Streptomyces and capable of producing the substance SF2587C is cultured at about 28 deg.C under aerobic conditions for 2-7 days. |
