<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a flexible, stable and high-strength absorbing material useful for sanitary napkin, paper diaper, etc., by blending a water absorbing polymer with synthetic pulp in the presence of water, mixing the prepared blend with hydrophilic fibers to give a web and heat-treating the web. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. water absorbing polymer [preferably a crosslinked polymer of water-soluble ethylenic monomer consisting essentially of acrylic acid (salt) having 10-1,000mu weight-average particle diameter] is blended with 1-80 pts.wt., preferably 1-30 pts.wt. synthetic pulp (preferably pulpy polyolefin) in the presence of 1-40 pts.wt. water to give the blend, which is mixed with 10-1,000 pts.wt., preferably 10-200 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the water absorbing polymer of hydrophilic fibers (specific wood pulp fibers) and the prepared web is heat-treated preferably at 60-250 deg.C to give the objective absorbing material.</p> |
