PURPOSE:To accomplish appropriate and efficient thermal fixing corresponding to the kind of a recording paper and the state of printing by providing a means which stores information on an optimum fixing temperature for the recording paper of a paper cassette and a means which reads the information and controls a fixing temperature. CONSTITUTION:The fixing temperature appropriate for the recording paper used is stored in the paper cassette 15 by the recessed and projecting parts 21a and 21b of a plastic chip 21. By detecting the recessed and projecting parts 21a and 21b by sensors 22a-22d, the information on the optimum fixing temperature for the recording paper used is read, outputted to a control means 20 to control a fixing heater 19, thereby holding a thermal fixing part at the appropriate fixing temperature. Since the information on the fixing temperature is stored in the cassette 15 through a temperature information storing means 16, a special means concerned with the fixing temperature need not be provided on a device main body side, and the stable fixing processing without the occurrence of paper wrinkle by fixing and the shortage of fixing, etc., is attained. |
