Polyesters - with superior thermal stability

Thermally stable polyesters corresp. to formula (I): where the org. residue corresp., at a rate of 60 - 99 pref. 75 - 99 mol. % to formula (II): where R' and R" are the same or different and are H or 1 - 5C alkyl, and the balance (up to 100 mol.%) of R corresp. to formula: (IV): where Y is either -O- or -SO2-, and c is 1 or 0. Mol. wt. of the polyesters is 30,000 - 160,000, pref. 40,000 - 120,000. Thermal stability of the claimed products is superior to that of the polyesters disclosed in parent patent. Used in mfr. of foils, films, coatings, electrical insulators, impregnants.
