PURPOSE:To enhance recording density and image quality and to reduce background staining by passing raw paper containing a wet paper strength enhancer and/or a higher fatty acid type synthetic size through the pressure nip between a heated metal roll and an elastic roll so that the measured value due to regular reflection type smoothness of the surface thereof becomes a specific value or more. CONSTITUTION:Raw material containing a specific wet paper strength enhancer and/or a higher fatty acid type synthetic size is passed through the pressure nip between a heated metal roll and an elastic roll to be subjected to surface treatment. As the wet paper strength enhancer, an urea resin is designated but, with due regard to the effect on workability or environment, a polyamide type resin having an epoxy group such as a polyamide/epichlorohydrin resin is pref. used. As the higher fatty acid type synthetic size, an alkali salt of higher fatty acid can be appropriately used in general. When the measured value due to regular reflection type surface smoothness of raw paper is below 25%, the contact of obtained recording paper with a recording head becomes non-uniform and recording density and image quality are lowered. |
