PURPOSE:To simultaneously inspect various kinds of anaerobic bacteria by introducing into an incubator specimen-inoculated culture media and an atmospheric regulator capable of producing a specified level of CO2, closing the incubator and by maintaining the atmosphere at a specified CO2 level to effect quick attainment to an O2-free state. CONSTITUTION:Specimen-inoculated culture media 7 are put into laboratory dishes 6 and an incubator consisting of an oxygen-impermeable, transparent outer bag 1 is packed with the above dishes. And an atmospheric regulator 4,5 consisting a composition comprising L-ascorbic acid, activated carbon, ferrous sulfate and sodium bicarbonate, etc., and capable of removing oxygen and generating carbon dioxide in such a manner that the volume ratio of carbon dioxide production to the removal of oxygen come to about 1/2, is put into inner bags, which are then put into the incubator consisting of the outer bag 1. Thence, the incubator is closed with a clip 8, and from 3hr after closing the incubator to a point after a lapse of 24hr, the atmosphere in the incubator 1 is maintained at <=0.1vol.% in oxygen concentration and 10-12vol.% in carbon dioxide concentration, thus simultaneously inspecting various kinds of anaerobic bacteria including Fusobacterium fusiforme. |
