2-arylamino-1,3-diazacycloalkenes prepn - from alkylene -diamines and substd isothiouronium salts

Title cpds. of formula (I):- and their salts, where R1 and R2 = H or (1-6C) alkyl and Ar is opt. subst. aryl, are prepd. by condensing a (1-6C) alkylene diamine with an isothiouronium salt of formula:- ArNHC(=NH.HY)SR3, where R3 is alkyl, (a) in a dipolar, aprotic solvent, e.g. DMF, DMA, Me2SO, MeCN, or THF. (b) for 1-4 hr. at 60-80 degrees.
