PURPOSE:To obtain the title enzyme applicable in the field of clinical examination, useful as an enzyme catalyzing a reaction of forming betaine by culturing a specific strain belonging to the genus Xanthomonas. CONSTITUTION:A strain [e.g. Xanthomonas translucens IFO 13,558] strain belonging to the genus Xanthomonas, capable of producing betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase is preferably aerobically cultured at 20-40 deg.C at pH5-7 for 0.4-days and the objective enzyme is obtained from the culture mixture. |
