PURPOSE:To obtain a nonaqueous electroviscous fluid which can maintain a stable effect for a long period of time at high temperatures in a strong electric field by dispersing fine solid particles with their pores filled in an electrically insulating liquid. CONSTITUTION:A nonaqueous electroviscous fluid, whose viscosity changes instantaneously and reversibly in response to electric field, is prepared by dispersing fine solid particles (particle size : 0.01-50mum), the surface of which is treated with a resin, etc., to fill the pores, in a dispersion medium of an electrically insulating liquid which is free from water and electroconductive impurities and has a viscosity of as low as approx. 1-300cSt. |
