The antenna (11) includes a plurality of tubular segments (12, 25a, 25b, 25c, 25d) assembled together telescopically. A first inner segment (12) is mounted so as to slide within a housing formed inside the bodywork (14) of the vehicle. An outer segment (25d) carries a solid piece (26) at its extremity. The antenna includes motorised means for deployment and folding away, the control for which is placed within the vehicle. The housing situated within the bodywork includes an end part (20) opening out within the vehicle constituting a cavity situated below the outer surface of the bodywork (14). In the completely folded-away position of the antenna (11), the end piece (26) is retracted within the cavity (20), below the outer surface of the bodywork (14). For preference, the cavity (20) is formed within a housing (16) fixed onto the bodywork (14) in the region of an aperture (15) and including a cover (21) which is drawn into closing position by springs. The antenna (11) according to the invention, completely retractable, makes it possible to preserve the appearance of the vehicle and prevent any damage by miscreants. <IMAGE>
