1305953 Silencing; purifying exhaust gas S OKAMURA 16 Sept 1970 [18 Sept 1969] 44272/70 Heading F1B An exhaust gas silencer and cleaner comprises several diffusing and expanding chambers connected in a straight line each including internally a conical baffle plate 4, inner and outer coaxial wire net tubes 7, 8, for supporting cleaning agents therebetween, supported by the baffle plate and the interior of the chambers such that the exhaust gas flows around the periphery of each baffle before entering the tubes adjacent the baffle plate. The baffle plate and wire tubes may be of stainless steel. The bowl-shaped shells 4 may be spherical, truncated, conical or polygonal. The cleaning agent in the first one or two chambers may be gamma alumina and in several succeeding chambers may be a mixture of platinum block and rodium. |
