<p>An object of this invention is to automatically operate a locking mechanism or unlock, to thereby improve the safety and operability. There is provided a lock member (64) movable linearly between a locking position for preventing the pressing of an ignition lever (62) and an unlocking position for allowing the pressing, and urged toward the locking position. This lock member (64) is provided with an engageable recess (64f) for holding the lock member at the unlocking position on moving of the lock member to the unlocking position, and the main body of the lighter is provided with an engaging projection (68a) for engaging this engageable recess (64f), so that the lock member (64) is released from the unlocking position by releasing this engagement at the pressing of the ignition lever (62). Thereupon, the lock member (64) thus released is temporarily held in the vicinity of the unlocking position by a projection (62a) for temporarily holding, provided on the ignition lever (62) and by a cutout (64d) for engaging, provided on the lock member (64) until the ignition lever (62) resets. When the ignition lever (62) resets, the lock member (64) resets to the locking position.</p> |
