The oil-filtration system is for a gearbox (1) with pressure lubrication of shaft and gear bearings (12,52,15) and the gears themselves (13,14). The oil is delivered by a pump (2) from a vessel (21), pref. the gearbox sump, through a filter (22). It is also delivered via a relatively narrow passage (23) to a large-diameter rotary chamber (3), so that the speed of flow is markedly reduced and a rotary movement is imparted to it. This projects dirt against the chamber wall (31), so that clean oil, flowing out from the chamber centre (32), can be delivered to the bearings or gears. |
