The fixing device has a pair of cooperating fixing rollers (11,12) between which the recording sheet (1) carrying the tone-image is transported. An auxiliary roller (20) acts against one of the fixing rollers (12) on the exit side of the roller nip, with the recording sheet (1) passed through the nip between this fixing roller (12) and the auxiliary roller (20). The fixing rollers (11,12) are supported between the opposing side flanges (31) of a mounting frame (30), the auxiliary roller (20) supported via pivoted angle arms (21) in turn supported by the side flanges (31) with springs (23) at each end biassing the auxiliary roller (20) into contact with the fixing roller (12). ADVANTAGE - Ensures uniform transport rate of recording sheet through fixing device.
