The machine has a sliding part (2) which slides relative to a fixed part (1) and is guided by three rollers (3,4,5) which roll in a guide groove in the fixed part (1). All three rollers have the same dia. and two of the rollers (3,4) are supported on roller bearings on spindles attached to the slide (2). The third roller (5) is hollow and has no spindle but is in contact with the other two rollers (3,4) and the upper surface of the guide groove. The wall thickness of this hollow roller is chosen so that when subjected to the operating load its deformation is such that there is no play between the rollers or between the rollers and the guide groove.
