Composite gas nozzle for producing soot to coat internal mould walls - has channels for delivering non-combustible gas, soot producing gas and hot gas

Appts. for producing soot by incomplete combustion of a soot-producing gas with an oxidising and/or reducing gas consists of a central channel connected to non-combustible controlled gas feed; a channel surrounding the central channel connected to a soot-producing gas feed controlled by means; and a hot gas feed surrounding controlled channel means. Channel is pref. arranged in a separate nozzle which is releasable but gas tight fitted into the main body. Nozzle is surrounded by a releasable soot-producing gas cap which is in turn surrounded by a hot gas cap. USE/ADVANTAGE - Soot coating the inside of moulds etc. prior to casting with metal or glass. Ensures a uniform coating of the mould walls.
