The control circuit (2) is coupled to a DC/AC current regulator (6) supplying the induction motor (8) and uses calculated time discrete values for a number of different motor parameters to obtain a prognostic estimation of one parameter. This is used with the detected angle between this and a second parameter, to provide a required value for the latter, in turn used to obtain a control value for the DC/AC current regulator (6). The switching in durations for the stator winding voltages are determined from the mean motor torque, the switching sequence defined by a given pulse pattern.
