<p>A device for swelling a granular material consists in forming upward flows of hot gases and the granular material and forming an additional upward flow (18) of gas jets, embracing the lower part of the main upward flow (12) of the hot gases and having a speed exceeding that of the main flow (12) of the hot gases. Then the granular material is heated until swolen grains of the material are obtained which are then transported from the heating zone to a settling zone, and the non-swolen grains and particles of the waste rock are transported to the lower part of the main upward flow (12) of the hot gases, and the non-swolen grains of the material are transported to the heating zone to produce subsequently swolen grains of the material. A device for swelling a granular material comprises, mutually interconnected, a preliminary chamber (1), a vertical working chamber (3), a receiving chamber (35) and a settling chamber (47). On the side of the lower working end of the working chamber (3) are mounted means (11, 13) for feeding in fuel and the granular material. In the upper part of the preliminary chamber (1) is mounted an annular collector (17) connected to a compressed air source and embracing the means (11, 13) for feeding in the fuel and the granular material, the upper wall of the collector being provided with nozzles (24). In the upper part of the receiving chamber (35) is mounted a device (39) for bringing down the temperature of the outcoming gases, and the gas passage (44) is provided with a heat exchanger (49).</p> |
