<p>A device (1) for the controlled pressurised delivery of a fluid from a fluid reservoir such that it can be administered into the body of a patient at a predetermined pressure, said device (1) comprising: a housing (2) having associated therewith a casing (3) between which housing (2) and said casing (3) said reservoir is disposed in a recess (5) so formed, energy storage means (16) located within said housing which is linked to a gearing assembly (18) to effect control of drive produced from said energy storage means (16), means to exert pressure (14, 17) on said reservoir acting in cooperation with said casing (3), and pressure responsive drive deactuation means (19); wherein, when a fluid is to be delivered by said device (1), release of said energy stored or induced into said energy storage means (16) causes pressure to be exerted on said reservoir by said pressure exerting means (14, 17), said drive being deactuated by said pressure responsive drive deactuation means (19) when the pressure generated exceeds a predetermined maximum operating threshold.</p> |
