A portable combustion driven nail driving gun has a combustion chamber (9) where a fuel and air mix is ignited to drive a piston (7,7a) in a cylinder (8). The chamber (9) is cased in a housing (2), and the gun has another part of the housing (3) which can move towards the first part (2). The volume of the chamber (9) can be altered by a relative movement between the first and second parts (2,3) of the housing which activates a sliding chamber wall (11). These movements are carried out on parallel axes. USE/ADVANTAGE - The gun is simply constructed, is more efficient and easily controlled.
