PURPOSE:To discriminate a type of an original automatically by using an original type discrimination means so as to discriminate whether an original is a color original or a mono-tone original based on each of RGB color signal components while one original is fed from a mobile original carrier (ADF) to an original platen. CONSTITUTION:When one original is carried onto a table glass 8, an output of an RGB light receiving sensor 12 is changed as shown in figure A because each of R, G, B signals has almost a same level in the case of the arrival of a mono-tone original. On the other hand, when a color original comes, since each output of the R, G, B differs from each other, the sensor output changes as shown in figure B. An original type discrimination section 14 provided in a copying machine discriminates whether the original is a color original or a mono-tone original based on each of R, G, B outputs. When the original is discriminated to be a color original, a full color mode signal is outputted and when the original is discriminated to be a mono-tone original, a mono-tone mode signal is outputted. |
