An electrostatic dust precipitator in which collector plates, which may all be of same shape, are folded vertically, with opposing faces grouped around, and equidistant from, vertical principal electrode wires. Folds are made pref. so that plates have plane central sections equal in length to diamong shaped end pieces, which each have inward face omitted to form stagnant enclosures in which dust falls freely, being detached by continuously rapping plates. Plates are situated in lines facing plates in adjacent line and alternately reversed. Gas flow is consecutively divergent and convergent which aids dust separation, and symmetrical disposition of plates about electrodes permits enhanced potential with minimal danger of arcing.
|
