An orange juice extn. process involves (i) using jaws (11) to grasp an orange released by a stop device in an orange feeder and to raise the orange into the work position; (ii) moving rotating side holder cups (50) inwardly to grasp and rotate the orange; (iii) opening the jaws and simultaneously briefly actuating a knife (7) to cut the orange into halves perpendicular to its rotational axis; (iv) moving the rotating holder cups (50) with the orange halves apart by a distance of three-quarters of their stroke; (v) positioning a reaming head (8) between the orange halves (vi) moving the rotating holder cups inwardly to press the rotating orange halves onto the stationary reaming head to extract the juice; and (vii) moving the holder cups fully apart and retracting the centring pins fitted in the holder cups to allow the empty orange peels to fall from the holder cups into a collection vessel. Appts. for carrying out the process is also claimed. ADVANTAGE - The process provides fully automatic juice extn. without peel oil from both orange halves simultaneously.
