PURPOSE:To enhance running stability of a vehicle by generating a differential limiting torque by connecting a disk and a plate to each other, and also a large differential limiting torque by a viscous coupling, thereby compensating respective drawbacks mutually with two differential limiting devices of different characteristics. CONSTITUTION:When a vehicle with its right and left driving wheels positioned in a muddy road surface and the like makes a start, a relatively small rotational speed difference occurs between the right and left driving wheels. In this case, a friction disk 33 and a friction plate 34 are connected to each other by a piston 36. Consequently, a relatively small differential limiting torque occurs between the right and left driving shafts 23, 24, so that the vehicle starts smoothly. Then when one of the driving wheels is positioned in a muddy, road surface and the like and the other driving wheels slips to prevent the vehicle is unable to escape, the rotational speed difference between the right and left driving wheels becomes large. When the difference, in rotational speed between the disk 33 and the plate 34 is large, the shearing force shearing the silicone oil 41 becomes large so that there occurs a large differential limiting torque due to the viscous coupling.
