<p>- The present invention relates to a process and a machine for marking an electrical cable, comprising a conductive core, an insulating covering and a varnish consisting of an internal layer and an external layer of contrasted colours, by laser ablation of the external layer of the said varnish, which layer is based on polytetrafluoroethylene and has a thickness lying between 10 and 20 micrometres. - According to the invention, the machine comprises: . a pulsed CO2 laser (2) whose poser is adjusted in order to obtain, at the position of the external varnish layer of the cable, an energy density lying between 8 and 15 J/cm<2>, . means (9) for driving the cable (4) in order to move the latter past opposite the beam (5) of the laser, . means (13, 14, 15) for guiding the cable (4) in the vicinity of the point of impact of the said beam (5) on this cable and . computer-control means (6). <IMAGE></p> |
