High-resolution vision system for part inspection

A camera sensor 16 may include a charge coupled device used to provide high-resolution in both an X and a Y axis. Data from the charge coupled device resulting from a standard part is stored for comparison with data of parts 11 under inspection. The data from the standard and inspected parts may be digitised and compacted to reduce memory requirements and processing time.
