A sliding material is disclosed that is made by extruding powder that comprises aluminium or an aluminium alloy and at least one compound which is a metal nitride, metal carbide, metal phosphide, metal boride and/or ceramic present at from 0.5 to 30% by weight. The compound has a Vicker's hardness of not less than 200 and is uniformly and finely dispersed in the aluminium or aluminium alloy matrix. |
