<p>An exercise device (10, 100) is intended to strengthen a user's targeted muscle (or muscles) wherein it is not necessary for the user to firmly grasp the device, thereby avoiding the use of the user's conjunctive adjoining muscles. The device includes a housing (11, 101) having a tangential opening (13, 102) for insertion of the user's hand. The user's hand is disposed between a convex inner wall (15, 104) and a concave outer wall (11, 103); and a weight means (18, 107) is disposed within the inner wall (15, 104) substantially centrally of the device. Preferably, the device is substantially spherical and is formed of two hemispherical shells (11A, 11B; 101A, 101B) having annular peripheral edges joining along a common longitudinal midplane, and the weight means comprises a cylindrical weight (107) secured between the shells and intersecting the common midplane transversely thereof.</p> |
