PURPOSE:To surely suppress alkali aggregate reaction for all cements without removing a reactive aggregate by adding a cation exchange substance to unhardened concrete. CONSTITUTION:An alkali aggregate reaction inhibitory admixture composed of a cation exchange substance is mixed in unhardened concrete. A cation exchange substance exchanging Na<+> or K<+> as compared with Ca<2+> is preferred as the cation exchange substance and, e.g. a mineral-based inorganic ion exchanger such as synthetic zeolite, a powdery inorganic ion exchanger composed of an inorganic compound or a powdery ion exchange resin is used. The aforementioned cation exchange substance is normally blended in an amount of about 3-5wt.% based on the cement weight expressed in terms of the inner percentage. The above-mentioned cation exchange substance is normally blended by a method for premixing thereof with the cement. Cations, contained in the concrete or flying from the outside and participating in the alkali aggregate reaction are completely captured with the cation exchange substance to inhibit the alkali aggregate reaction. |
