<p>PURPOSE: To reduce the generation of tensile stress of a web upon needle punching and to simplify the after-treatment of the web by heating and subsequently needle punching the web while the web comprising synthetic fibers is held under a tensile stress. CONSTITUTION: In making of a paper machine felt, after a web comprising synthetic fibers is heated, the web kept in the heated state is needle punched under a tensile stress. To give an actual example, the web 2 is heated by a heating device 9 by forming a loop of a reciprocating motion of the web 2 between a holder 6 for a needle punching machine 1 and a stretcher 7 of a stretching device and finally is needle-punched by a needle punching machine 1.</p> |
